ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING AND SCIENCE

Announcement 2023-2024

Purpose

The “Environmental Engineering and Science” Program is part of the strategic planning of the D.P.Th., is governed by scientific coherence and aims to:

1. Deepening and further promotion of the interdisciplinary knowledge and practice of Environmental Engineering and Science.

2. Creation of a high level of specialized scientific potential in the academic subjects (specializations) of the PMS.

3. Promotion of scientific research in Environmental Engineering and Science, according to international standards.

4. Satisfying the educational, research and development needs of the country in Environmental Engineering and Science, to retain in Greece a valuable scientific and technical potential.

5. The contribution to the development and productive reconstruction of Thrace as an uncritical and border region of the country.

PMS graduates will be able to fill specialized jobs in the public and private sector or work as freelance researchers dealing with issues that require knowledge in terms of research and management of environmental problems, both in Greece and competitively abroad.

Directions

-PMS awards a Postgraduate Diploma (MPS) with the title “Environmental Engineering and Science” with the following specializations:

(1) Climate change, renewable energy sources and energy planning of buildings and settlements,

(2) Technology and Waste Management,

(3) New Technologies in Water Resources Management.

ATTENTION: the 3rd specialization of the PMS “New technologies in the management of water resources” will not work during the academic year. year 2023-2024.

Tuition fess

Fees of 750E per semester for three semesters. Total of 2250E.

Duration of study

Fees cover 2 semesters of module attendance and 1 to 2 semesters of thesis completion. Total of 2 academic years.

Distance learning

The courses are implemented 100% DISTANCE which includes the final exams (90% synchronous, up to 10% asynchronous) in accordance with Law 4957/2022 (articles 67, 88)

For the awarding of the BMI, it is required:
a) the successful examination in eight (8) courses from a total of 25 elective courses in total,
b) the monitoring of the remote Seminar (in which attendances will be taken) and
c) the preparation and writing of the Master’s Thesis, which takes place during the third semester of studies. The topic of the master’s thesis is assigned to the master’s students until the beginning of the third semester of studies.

In physical presence (in person) the presentation of ‘thesis’ should be done, i.e. after the end of the 3rd semester of studies, while in person there should also be final written exams (for those courses that have this option as an examination form). Physical presence is not required in the presentation of written assignments or oral exams or exams via eclass (e.g. multiple choice questions). The workshops (refers to all courses that have integrated workshops) will be presented as demonstrations (demonstrations or photos) and will be exam material.

Lecture program

Module lectures are delivered from Monday to Friday between 5.00 to 9.00. Only once a week teaching starts at 4.15 to 9.00.
