The content of the course includes the following:
- Introduction to energy issues – RES energy balance – Main sources of RES – Basic principles of RES theory (solar geometry, potential, etc.)
- Passive solar systems
- Natural ventilation of buildings
- Solar systems (Solar thermal – Photovoltaic)
- Biomass – Geothermal – District heating / district cooling of building complexes / settlements.
- Urban wind systems – Small hydro projects
- Alternative energy sources (hydrogen, wave energy, cogeneration systems, etc.)
- Natural lighting – Lighting control / adjustment systems – Energy saving in lighting systems
- Application of RES at settlement level – Examples
- Energy autonomous buildings and settlements – Examples
- Computing tools for evaluating RES potential in settlements and buildings (RETSCREEN, F-chart, etc.)
- Issues of RES implementation in buildings and settlements: European and national legislation, obstacles to implementation, economic valuation, etc.).
- Presentation of six-month assignments
