The course description for the ac. year 2022-2023 are:
1. Life Cycle Analysis in Solid Waste Management (SWM), Life Cycle Analysis Softwares and their use, Use of WARM Model, Life Cycle Analysis Costing, Social Life Cycle Analysis, Circular Economy in Solid Waste Management, Circular Economy Evaluation Indicators , Special solid waste streams (construction, medical, tires, OTKZ, batteries, WEEE, lamps), Innovative topics in DSA: utilization of organic matter for biofuel production, bioplastics, microplastics, energy recovery by gasification and pyrolysis, Animal husbandry and waste production, Relationship GHG with greenhouse emissions and global warming, Plastic recycling (new trends).
2. Laboratory analyzes on solid waste: sampling, moisture, volatile solids, elemental analysis, calorific value measurement, tests to assess aerobic microbial respiration of organic waste, biochemical methane potential.
Assessment: Students will be assessed through 6-8 short assignments on current topics in solid waste management with a presentation and an oral/written examination.
